When I joined the Positive Opportunities for Wellness, Exercise and Reading (P.O.W.E.R.) KIDS program at Bailey Elementary, I envisioned a role filled with reading sessions and engaging discussions with curious young minds. However, my experience took an exciting turn as I was assigned to work alongside Holly Pettlon, the program's director.
At Bailey Elementary, the enthusiasm for sports among the students is palpable. The children eagerly participate in a variety of athletic activities, showcasing their teamwork and sportsmanship. From soccer to basketball, the students not only hone their physical skills but also learn valuable life lessons about perseverance and collaboration.
The program emphasizes the importance of physical activity in promoting overall wellness, and the kids have embraced this philosophy wholeheartedly. Their laughter and cheers during games create an infectious atmosphere of joy and camaraderie. Witnessing their passion for sports has been a rewarding experience, highlighting the vital role that physical education plays in shaping a healthy and active lifestyle for these young learners.
